In April of this year, RSI had the opportunity to participate in the 1st annual Red Siskin consortium partners meeting organized by Erica Royer, an aviculturist and Red Siskin studbook keeper. The virtual meeting included 24 different international zoological institutions and organizations.

In this event, our new coordinator Arlene Cardozo, along with Kathryn Rodriguez-Clark, co-founder of RSI, presented our mission, vision, and strategic plan. They discussed the ongoing threats to Red Siskins, and also explained the five main axes of action around which our conservation efforts are focused, as well as the most important achievements of the 2020-2021 period, concluding with our next goals and next steps.

Zoological partners that currently have red siskins shared their current husbandry and breeding protocols which sparked a lot of productive discussion on how to improve upon current protocols. We hope to have this meeting develop into an annual event to continue international collaboration for the red siskin.
