The paper describes the Red Siskin’s status and the threats that it is exposed to in Venezuela. Investigators like Drai Cabello, biologist and president of the Asociación Civil para la Conservación de la Biodiversidad Venezolana and the environmentalist Rafael Gianni, member of the Unión Venezolana de Ornitólogo, highlighted the importance of the Red Siskin as a national icon on the brink of extinction.
